History

The City of Schertz and the Comal County Senior Citizens Foundation collaborated to make the Schertz Area Senior Center a reality. The City provided the building, the former Library building, at 608 Schertz Parkway, and continues to help with the funding for the Center. The Comal County Senior Citizens Foundation took on the daily operation and management of the Center and the two organizations celebrated the informal opening of the Center in November of 2010 with a Thanksgiving Dinner. The formal ribbon cutting took place on March 4, 2011 with Mayor Hal Baldwin and Robert Lopez, the Executive Director of CCSCF sharing . The band Bimbo played and many enjoyed dancing and celebrating the opening of the Center. Today, we continue to welcome the “young at heart”.
